Specific Responsibilities:
- Effectively implement a daily lesson plan.
- Assist in carrying out activities such as snacks, lunch, naps, rest room, arts & crafts, language, music, science, nature; lead group songs, finger plays, and stories with both large and small groups of children.
- Assists with a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
- Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily care giving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
- Prepare materials and equipment for various activities.
- Teach and supervise a class of children.
- Adapt to schedule changes, groups, etc.
- Deal effectively with behavioral situations.
- Provide a positive and supportive role model for the children at all times.
- Attend all required events such as staff meetings, open houses, church events, etc.
- Adhere to policies stated in the personnel handbook.
- Show evidence of continued training in the early childhood development field.
- Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values and beliefs into the childcare program and lesson plans.
- Communicate with parents concerning each child’s day.
- Complete an annual student evaluation and prepare developmental progress reports as needed.
- Prepare materials and equipment for various activities.
- Provide a positive and supportive role model for the children and support staff always.
- Make appropriate bulletin board displays.
- Keep the classroom neat, clean and clutter free.
- Show evidence of continued training in the early child development field.
Skills & Abilities:
- Early Child Development knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge in Developmental Appropriate Practices.
- Knowledge of State Licensing and NAEYC Requirements and Standards.
- Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.
- Ability to use the computer to input developmental data.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities.
- Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.
- Must be able to manage confidential information.

- Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle.

Education and experience:
Must be 18 years of age or older, have a High School diploma or equivalent, 1st Aide/CPR within 3 months of employment, Pre-employment screening and certified 20-hour annual CEUs
